Remington 870 Shotgun Workshop

The Remington 870 pump 12 gauge shotgun is the benchmark of defensive shotguns.  The 870 is the most popular shotgun that Remington Arms has ever made and they are extremely popular with the law enforcement community.  The military also uses the venerable Remington 870 shotgun.  Why is it so popular?  Because it is extremely well engineered, built like an Abrams tank, it’s reliable, accurate, can be put into action very quickly, is easy to clean and maintain, and it is one bad ass weapon system.

The 12 gauge shotgun is, in my opinion, the deadliest close quarters weapon system on the planet.  With one press of the trigger, the operator, sends nine .33 caliber pellets screaming at the intended target at over 1,100 feet per second.  When we fire a handgun or even a rifle we depend to some degree on the round fragmenting and causing more damage to the body so as to stop the threat as quickly as possible.  The 00 buck round is pre-fragmented into nine .33 caliber pellets that strike the intended victim all at one time.  This causes a devastating wound that can put an assailant down with one well placed shot.

The 12 gauge shotgun, when loaded with 00 buckshot is about as close to a one shot stop weapon as you will ever find.  It is the home defense weapon of choice for the Director of Training, Guy Minnis, and it is the one that he suggests for his students as a home defense weapon.  This seminar will take the student through the Remington 870 pump shotgun and each student will learn how to completely tear the shotgun down, clean it, maintain it, inspect the parts for wear and tear, and reassemble it.

Students will also learn how to change out stocks, butt pads, forends, barrels, and will learn what add-ons are a good idea and which ones to avoid.  Special tools are required for some work on the 870 and Guy can order those tools for any interested students through Brownells.  Guy will supply the specialty tools for students to share during this seminar, but it is highly recommended that students buy some of their own tools.  The Remington 870 pump shotgun is very versatile and is highly recommended.  “Everyone should have a Remington 870 pump 12 gauge shotgun in their home.” according to Guy.  Come join us for a great time and a great learning experience.
