1911 Pistol Workshop

The 1911 pistol is going to be celebrating its 100th birthday very soon. This is one robust handgun that has obviously been around for a very long time, is still very popular, and it is still getting the job done. The most popular calibers in the 1911 design are the venerable .45 acp, 9 mm, .38 Super, and .40 Smith & Wesson. There are probably more 1911 style pistols in the world than any other semi-auto design. John Browning was the creator of the 1911 and at one time this was the sidearm of the United States Armed Forces. It has been replaced by the 9 mm Beretta and I, for one, think this was a mistake.

Deadly Force Law Seminar

You may own a gun for personal protection and you may carry it, but do you know the law as to its use? This seminar will cover the Indiana law on the use of deadly force concerning self defense. Each student will receive a copy of the Indiana law and a list of definitions of terms used in the law. Before deadly force can be used, three things must be present: Ability, Opportunity, and Jeopardy. We will define these terms and will use videos of encounters to help the student to better understand these and other aspects of deadly force law.

First Responder - Ditch Medicine Seminar

Dr. Bruce Romick is a local surgeon, friend, and HARD TARGET student. He has been so gracious as to share his incredible knowledge of trauma type wounds. Doc Romick is not your average surgeon. He was a Navy Dive Doctor, he has graduated several wilderness medical seminars, and he goes to Africa on a yearly basis and donates his time and skill helping people. Doc Romick has seen some horrific trauma type wounds in Africa. In this seminar Doc Romick covers the basics of how to treat trauma type wounds.

Glock Workshop

The Glock pistol is used by more law enforcement officers than all other brands of pistols combined. This is one heck of a statement concerning the quality of Glock pistols. There is a damn good reason for this fact. Glock pistols are very durable, accurate, easy to clean & maintain, and they are easy to use. When someone asks Guy Minnis, the Director of Training for HARD TARGET Firearms Training, what semi-auto pistol he recommends, Guy says one word – “GLOCK.”

Home Defense Seminar

This seminar covers all the things that you can do to make your home or apartment less of a target for burglars and home invaders. You have worked hard for your possessions and you do not want to come home and discover that someone has broken-in and taken your stuff. What’s worse is to be home and have someone break-in. What can you do in a situation like that? Do you know what the law is? Do you know what is legal and not legal as far as your response is concerned? Over the years, Guy Minnis, the Director of Training with HARD TARGET, worked for the Evansville Police Department and the vast majority of his police career he worked as a detective investigating felony crimes committed by adults.

The Remington 870 pump 12 gauge shotgun is the benchmark of defensive shotguns. The 870 is the most popular shotgun that Remington Arms has ever made and they are extremely popular with the law enforcement community. The military also uses the venerable Remington 870 shotgun. Why is it so popular? Because it is extremely well engineered, built like an Abrams tank, it’s reliable, accurate, can be put into action very quickly, is easy to clean and maintain, and it is one bad ass weapon system.

Smith & Wesson Revolver Workshop

Do you own a Smith & Wesson revolver? If you do, would you like to learn how to take the side plate off and remove the parts, clean them, inspect them, lubricate, them and then put it all back together? We cover J frames; K, L, and N frame revolvers. We will discuss what parts you can change out on the Smith & Wesson revolver and what parts you should have a qualified gunsmith work on.

This is a new seminar that HARD TARGET is offering to its students. This is where it all begins. The human mind is the most important self defense tool there is. Without the proper mind set, a gun of any caliber is useless. There is much more to mind set than just having made the decision that you can and will use deadly force if necessary. This seminar covers all of the important facets of mind set and prepares the student for a lethal encounter.

Women Only – Freedom from Fear Seminar

Although we will talk about defending yourself with a gun, this seminar is not all about using a gun. This seminar will teach the students how to stay safe in all kinds of situations. Have you ever been home alone and afraid? Have you been in your car and been involved in a frightening situation? How about this, have you been walking out to your car on a deserted parking lot at night and experienced that gut wrenching feeling that someone was watching you? Have you been in a physically abusive relationship and did not know what to do to protect yourself?

Women Only – Gun Cleaning & Maintenance Workshop

More and more women are taking an interest in being able to defend themselves against a hostile male hell-bent to cause them harm. Knowing how to shoot a handgun is important and it is empowering, but if you do not know how to keep it clean, maintain it, and keep it working as it should work – it will not do you much good when you need it. This seminar takes a look at each one of the lady’s individual weapons and teaches them how to field strip it, clean it, and maintain it.
